Mot without tax`?
Answers:
Legally speaking, you cannot drive a vehicle on the road without Tax or Insurance. You would need to put the vehicle on a trailer and take it to the testing station.
The only time you can drive a car on the road without an MOT, is to a testing station for a pre-booked test ONLY.
You do not need to physically have an insurance certificate to drive a car. As long as you have a policy in place, i.e. arranged over the phone, you are covered.
The UK police can now tell in an instant whether a vehicle is taxed and insured, through the new PNR - Plate Number Recognition system. MOT's are still a bit vague as not all testing stations have the new computerized certificates yet.
The police have access to the DVLA and insurance databases.
You can get an MOT without tax but you have to show your MOT when you buy a tax disc so theres no way to get out of it.
If the car is booked in for an MOT i.e day and time arranged beforehand you are allowed to drive to the mot station without tax, I believe.
no there aint but you can take the car to the garage and get the MOT and then go and the tax. If you get stopped explain the situation and you should just about get away with it
You will not get tax without an MOT,But I think that you are allowed to drive your car to the MOT garage without tax.
If you ring your local Police (not 999!)They will advise you.
you cannot buy tax without mot but if you book an appointment with the mot place and have it confirmed the police will allow you to drive there.that is if you are lucky enough to see a policeman
your insurance is invalid without an MOT cert so dont get into an accident as you wont be able to claim on it
and IF you get pulled over by the police you still have a week to produce documents ~ which you can extend for another week ;) (if they still let you do that) which should be enough time to get a valid MOT
and if all else fails if that happens 'sell' it for scrap and give the police a reciept which will save you from going to court for no MOT
phone the mot station and put it in the book. the law allows you to drive to and from the MOT station without tax,(and mot) but you must have insurance.
there is no legislation regarding the location of the garage, you could be living in london, and book it in at kwickfits in aberdeen.and the cops couldnt prosecute you. i regularly buy cars with no mot off eBay.. get the details and book it in.. and youre covered.. anywhere within the united kingdom.
and another fallacy; there is no period of grace, all mots are registered at swansea by computer link, as are your insurance details. even if you take your car with a month on the old ticket and it fails.it fails, you cant say,oh well its got 3 weeks left.it failed the test. and the big DVLA computer knows everything. and it tells the coppers. they all have VNPR..
AS long as the car is insured: You can book it in to the garage and drive it there by appointment only.
dunno
.
if the English tax is like the Irish you can get it on the Internet and they don't ask for your mot. I've no mot the last couple months. but if i was the go into the tax office to get my tax they would ask me for my mot cert. so i getting away with it.
If you book an appointment to have your car mot'd you can drive it to that appointment without tax, there after once your vehicle has passed its mot you can pop to the post office and get your tax disc
The police know if you have insurance and would not pull you over unless you broke the law or parked your car, so you should not have a problem with driving your car to the garage. If they do pull you, then all you do is give the name of the garage and they will check it out.
take your car to the garage for its mot and then get it taxed
no you cant buy tax with out a mot but if you book you car in to a garage for a mot you are by low aloud to drive to the garage with out a mot and tax hower for this my bee but you must only go to the garage
no u need the mot to get the tax disc u may have insurance but it won't be valid for u to drive the car without the mot or tax get the garage to collect the car for u to mot it it won't cost much more for them to do it
you cannot buy tax without a current mot, however, if your car is booked in for an mot and you can prove you have a booking your insurance will cover you. so if you get stopped by the police on the way to your garage they will want to check you have an appointment.
10 miles is a long drive anything can happen in a distance of 10 miles. if you are afraid of driving you car get someone from the garage to come and pick up as most mechanics are insured if the worst comes to the worst get a friend with a recovery van to tow your car to the garage. There was a programme on TV recently where cars without insurance and MOT were taken by police and crashed. If you meet the police they now have new powers there will not listen to you no car licence, no insurance the car is taken there is no forgivenss. You can get a copy of the progranmme from BBC. Hope you find a solution.
you are allowed to take car to mot station without tax just dont get caught
You need insurance but not Tax to drive (straight) to an mot test station and straight home
