Why dus the bugatti veyrons speedometer go up to 280 mph and it is mph i hve the picture, can it reach 280?

Yeah!Its a monster
It's the same reason the speedo on a Honda Accord goes to 140. One, because it makes you think it actually can hit such speeds. Two, it's actually for aesthetic purposes. Car manufacturers spend endless time and money determining what is pleasing to the eye. Too high a range will make the guage squashed and unreadable. Too low a number gives the car a bad impression.
It's a good question for the Veyron though. Everyone knows the Veyron tops at 254mph. I suppose 260 wasn't elegant enough a number.
No car can reach its top speed unless its had extra work done to the engine. This can usuly be done after the car is bought. Best not tell your insurers either.
It's pegged back by a limiter at 253MPH, unlimited they took it to over 270MPH before they abandoned the test due to severe risk it may take off, especially when you consider a Boeing 747 would be flying by that speed!
