How can I get a motorbike shipped over to Australia from Ireland?
Answers:
Call several local freight transporter and get quotes & export/import information from each. Write your questions out on paper and be sure to ask the same questions to each transporter so that you can compare exact rates.'
Call a freight forwarder (or transit agent), they can tell you what it will cost to pack and ship from where to where.
I'm sure your friend meant well, but quarantine is for living things like people, animals, and plants.
But depending on whether or not the bike meets local standards for safety etc., and if there are any duties involved, it may have to go into bonded hold for a bit to get all the customs paperwork straightened out. That's called demurrage and it costs by the day.
In the end, it may cost more than it would to simply buy another bike after you get there.
Very expensively
put it in a box and put it on a boat.
you could try by ship
Why bother? Plenty of new and used motorcycles here, and no problems about import taxes, theft, loss, meeting Australian standards and so forth. Sell it, put your money in the bank and buy another when you get here. Unless it's something like a Vincent Black Shadow, a Brough Superior or just one or two other models it's not worth the trouble. Check with the Australian embassy or consulates in Dublin.
unless it is very special, just sell it and buy another in Oz. You will still have the problem of getting it registered and having the speedo converted
