Who fills up the police cars/fire engines?

I have never seen a police car or a fire engine getting fuelled.who does it, just the driver at the time? at any old garage? and who pays for it?

Answers:
The police do it they usually have a pump at the station and have to fill in a log book to say when and how much they have put in
They fill up at the station so that they can get they Vat free fuel. It also saves time on invoices, etc and claiming back expencess

This is why Police cars drive so fast. There is not an emergancy, they are just trying to get back to the station before their petrol runs out
They do it themself. The government/local government pays.
Here they fill up at the same at this place where all the city garbage trucks and dump trucks come from. There's some sort of city municipal office there too.
I live very close to a Police H.Q. (UK) and they refuel at the local petrol station with the rest of us.

There is almost a constant police presence there because it's a H.Q. with maybe 200 people working there so good security for the people who work in the petrol station.
They seems to have a petrol card because i've never seen one pay any cash, apart from all the masses of chocolate they buy.
i work for a police dept./fire dept. and here whoever is driving each car or truck at the time it needs gas fills it up. each officer and fireman has a gas card that charges the gas to the city's account. the gas card is only good at phillips 66 gas stations.
I have seen the Police filling up gas at gas stations numerous times in Australia. Never seen it in the States and dont know about fire engines?
I used to see the town police and fire vehicles filling up at the town DPW yard, but I see state troopers and ambulances filling up at regular gas stations.
We have contracts with particular companies and company credit cards are used for purchases. Somewhat difficult to cheat on the purchase by the way, my Acura in no way resembles a fire truck. You don't see this happening because most maintenance is handled by the nite shift, so unless you're out scouting at 4am you're not gonna see us. And on top of that we have 2 fuel tanks on the trucks so we don't fill up every day.
The Police. The government pays.
City Garage
They have their own fuel depots with a dyed fuel (to stop employees stealing some). The military have these too (Ever see a tank pull up at a petrol station?)

On a note, they will occasionally stop at petrol stations. I covered the fire strikes 4(ish) years ago and We ran low on fuel in an 70's/80's era red engine around the Hull area, whilst out after a call. We pulled up at a petrol station at midnight or so and topped up. We paid using an issued Credit card. That was odd really. We usually topped up at the Territorial army depot we were stationed at.
old bill they do it themselves at the begining of there shift at local garage with a fuel card
fire engines are done on site
and it comes out of their budget
that means we all pay for it in tax and poll tax
They fill up at station where fuel is free; can also fill their own and their friends cars up if they like.

We pay in our taxes, it's only fair isn't it?
