I own a VW Golf 1.4 T reg. When slowing down the engine is cutting out does anyone know the reason why PLEASE?

It is a fuel delivery problem with the injectors most likely. A clogged injector may not be able to deliver fuel well at low flow rates.

Run some methanol (or the yellow bottle of HEET) through them.
hi take your car to a vw garage asap as if your engine is cutting when your slowing down whats to stop it doing that well your driving and you could end up crashing & also the longer you leave the problem the worce the problem is going to get
Its probably an air leak somewhere.try squirting something like WD40 around the base of the carburetter if its not fuel injected and see if the engine sounds different.if its fuel injected try around the injector seals..if no goo try around the air filter base (where it joins the engine/carb)..by squirting the liquid it will temporarily block the air leak.if the engine sounds different you have located the leak.replace the faulty part..only do this when the engine is not too hot..slight chance of fire otherwise.
There could be many reasons, spark plugs, distributor, fuel injectors, HT lead. The best thing to do is take it to a friendly mechanic, who will be able to help you out with this problem.
If it`s fitted with the Bosch Fuel Injection system, this sounds very much like the well known problem of a dirty Idle Air Control Valve. They can be cleaned but it only last for a couple of thousand miles, much better to replace it. Stalling or failling to idle is a very common problem and it`s not confined to VW`s. Vauxhalls are very prone to it, and they have ..guess what.Bosch Injection !
remove and clean the throttle body, these get oiled up and make the car cut out.
wonderful these Vw's arent they!
most likely the coil packs i was having the same problem not that expensive to replace at a main dealer
first of all try some injection cleaner this will take an hour or so to get through the system
if that does not work then there is a sencer breaking down in the system
go to vw to get it cheaked
i own a golf 1.4 x reg, recently mine was the same kept cutting out when not accelerating or slowing down.it was the throttle body what was dirty an needed cleaning and now it is fine.
it is the throttle body that is dirty - they should be cleaned every service regardless. if its still not completely right it will need to go to a dealer for throttle calibration
go back to a Volkswagen service centre
