Where is the idle valve on Escort Zetec 1.8i '97 engine(D.O.H.C)?
Answers:
fivetoze obviously never worked on a Zetec engine where there is no adjustment for the base-idle speed at all. There is also no distributor-cap or rotor-arm as the Zetec uses the EDIS (Electronic Distributorless Ignition System)system with wasted-spark application.
The Idle Speed Control Valve (ISCV) location and test-procedure is to be found in the Haynes Ford Escort and Orion Workshop manual chapter 4, section 4B-15
right idea, wrong apllication. its an injection, so dont go fiddl;ing with that which yu know nothing about..it can be costly.
its got a bettrer chance of being the dizzy cap/rotor arm which needs cleaning and possibly the air filter. and to turn the tickover up, get a 12 inch screwdriver. (or remove the air filter) operate the throttle control arm, and look for the adjusting screw. itll be the part which touches the stop. look fromthe passenger side towards teh nearside suspension top. its in there.keep looking.
