Hey how do i detach my car aerial because i want to get car washed in car garage?
does know how i can detach my car ariel because my car needs a clean so will get it washed at local petrol garage. My last car i had problem and my aerial broke. I recently bought this car and it doesn`t state in the manual. My car is a vauxhall astra 1.6 X reg 2001, and petrol.

They normally just unscrew - get the right sized spanner or pair of pliers and turn anti-clockwise. Good luck!

Most unscrew or operate automatically. If you try to unscrew an
automatic one that's stuck you'll have a major problem (trust me
on this, LOL). Call a dealer's parts department if you don't see
a nut waiting to be unscrewed at the bottom.
It looks in the pictures of the car, that it is like a Jetta. Look for a split line at the Ariel base, if it is there, try unscrewing it by hand. I wouldn't recommend putting a wrench on it.
If you can't Screw it off you must be able to push it down,if you can't just get a bucket and a sponge!!
i have the same style of car and on mine it just unscrews. try it and find out.

definatly unscrews anti clockwise (by hand there not normally tight
most modern aerials unscrew from the base, but there might be a tiny screw in the base to stop theives. undo this if there is one
