I own a 2001 Vauxhall Astra LS but don't have radio code. Garages asking stupid prices to cure code problem.

Can anyone help? Thank you.

Answers:
You used to be able to crack the code by putting the radio in the freezer overnight. Dont know if it ever worked for anyone though!
I had the same problem with my astra took it to a Vauxhall dealer who charged me £15.
i had the same problem in my car when the battery died.. i had to pay 75 dollars to get my code that was the only way. they had to take the cd player out and get some numbers off the back then call the manufacture to get the code,
.Putting it in a freezer doesn't work. The only thing you can do is take it to car radio repair shop, look in the Auto trader or Exchange and mart and shop around for the best price. Someone coming to your house to unlock it will be a bit cheaper. Around about £25 is the normal price. Make sure you keep the new code safe. Good luck
phone vauxhall give them the chassis number they should have code . or just change radio.
Try getting in touch with the previous owner, but if you bought it new then I dont know
I took a taxi to a chap where I live he fixed it quick and charged me a tenna so if you can find them there are people who can help
I have also heard it suggested that if you put the radio in the freezer it is supposed to forget the code but I have no idea if this works
hey get the vauxhall phone number and give them a ring! They might give it too u over the phone. U shouldn`t be charged to much max 10-15 pounds nothing more. Don`t go to stupid garages please they charge a bomb i know. I own a 2001 astra aswell but i have a cd player, so don`t need a code. Please don`t waste your money anywhere else no point just a vauxhall garage should be fine. Good luck xx
can you find out where the car was originaly bought from (is it still on the number plate) they should have it on file if you phone them up.i done it on a 1998 peugeot 306
you need the serial number from the side of the radio then it can be decoded..
when ineeded a code for a ford i googled for a code cracker and found a free one to download sorted a few codes for fords now so i guess just have a good look about on the net and u will most probbably find one for vauxhall
Yeah try asking elsewhere, exch and mart a good idea but maybe market place worth a try?
Try contacting the supplying dealer where the car was bought new, they usually have records on file and should be able to tell you the code straight over the phone, unless they are jobs worths.
