How do i connect a pioneer deh-1600r to a skoda fabia?
The original skoda tape player and radio work fine. but as soon as i try to connect a cd player nothing happens. There is no power to the unit at all. I have tried to swap the wires and even a wiring loom, but nothing works.
Could anyone help me out or point me in the right direction.
Please no funny or dodgy answers.be serious please!!

It sounds like 1 or 2 things cd u/s or a bad earth
1 make sure the cd works ok (fuses,we've all missed that one) test it away from the car as you have said the car radio works ok
2 test the 12 volt live ,12 volt ignition live and don,t forget the earth, try to do the test with a multimeter or a bulb tester
first without the car switched on see if you have a wire that shows you 12 volts or your bulb lights up..when you have found that one mark it with as 12+.now switch the ignition on so the battery and oil lights are showing, with your tester find the wire that shows you 12volt..,turn the ignition on and of a couple of times to double check, then mark it as ignition 15+.now for the earth or 0 volts i think the best way to do this is with bulb tester, put the clamp end on a 12 volt supply which gives you the pointed end to stab the wired car radio plug ,when you find an earth the bulb will light up .if the skoda's loom is an ISO plug the earth is in the bottom corner next to the retaining clip, please NOTE that have the car side lights should be switched on, if you don't and they are wired into the plug this will give you a false earth, and when you turn your lights on you blow the lights fuses.
now the cd pioneer wires can be different
12 volt .old orange..new yellow
ignition 15+ red
earth black
I don't think there is much more to say but ..take your time and don't lose your cool .If that don't work mail me with more details
serious answer , the new skoda (2000 onwards ) was fitted with a device in the car that will only work with the original radio that came with the car . you can now however buy a converter that enables you to use a none standard cd player in the skoda but be warned these are very expensive ( about £70). and there has still been problems with this new device so it is not 100% guarantee that it will work with this fitted . i work for a taxi company that has over 100 skoda octavia`s / fabia`s on the fleet , this information was given to us by the skoda dealership when we had to try replace the radio`s for cd players for some of the drivers .
Could anyone help me out or point me in the right direction.
