Any one help me on a PEUGEOT / RENAULT engine compatabilty question :-)?
Answers:
Plain and simple, It wont fit. These are 2 entirely different engines. There is a common misconception that Renault and Peugeot share engines but they dont. A citroen Saxo shares almost all of the components with your Peugeot if you cant find a Peugeot cylinder head.
It may be possible to do this.I know that there are numerous automakers using the same suppliers. I would go to a Renault or Peugeot dealer and ask them.they are truly the experts.
could be wrong but id say the inlet ports would be different as the 106 will more than likely be carburettor where the clio is injection.
personally i swap like with like, but if he reckons he can do it, then its your choice.
whats wrong with the cylinder head?
oh and the 106 engines are either 1000cc/1100cc/1400cc
wont work Peugeot and Citroen are def in bed together but Renault got kicked out for eating crisps. I was unaware that Peugeot had a 1.2 in their range. so it could be an unoriginal engine to start with, so I would be looking for a replacement, not a repair and flog that one for parts. Clio 1.2 is good but the insurance will let u take a 1.4 with little loading since these are more common the ppl with experience on them would be broader. plus there more economical
Yes its true renault engines WONT fit into/onto peugeots. The citroen saxo's were built using the same shell & engine wiring, in the same factory as the peugeot 106. looking at my mums clio to fit that into a 106 there are a lot of differences. the engines look completely different too. your engine size should be 1125cc.
clios are 1179cc.
No peugeot/citreon are compatible but renault is different
