Speakers for my car?
Answers:
I dont know much about focal, due to never having them recommended to me.but I would recommend sticking with alpine, they are currently leading the audio world in quality and popularity. I try to have 1 brand throughout my whole vehicle..it's just more reliable and you can get a better deal usually when you do that. If you just dont want to spend alpine prices.I recommend boston acoustics or pioneer, but always go 3 way or over. Stay away from rockford (going out of business).
Focal makes some absolutely yummy speakers. They do make many different levels and varieties.. you didn't mention which ones and what price.
It really depends on your ear. If you audition a bunch of speakers in your price range, and the ones you end up liking the most happen to be the Focals, then the answer is "yes". But you'd be answering that for yourself, not me or anyone else.
Check out stuff from CDT's higher end, Rainbow, Morel, MB Quart's upper tier, Boston Acoustics' upper tier, Phoenix Gold Titanium Elite series (drivers made by Morel Israel), and others in the price, also.
Clearly sound will differ from the show room to your car, but listening is really the only way to take notes on the differences between different speakers' sound and develop an opinion on what you enjoy. Who knows, you may find a cheap $200 set of components that suit you just fine, and can handle the power you want to feed them (note. some components actually NEED quite a bit of power to really wake up and respond well).
Good luck in the quest.
I've heard some very good things about focal. If you do plan on getting them i would suggest spending a little more for a better amp like zapco or even a jl audio amp. You could leave the rears running of the hu and run the front focals with one of those amps. You should be very happy with that set up.
Some decent sounding speakers are pioneer and there cheep.
you don't want to fall for the less expensive stereo things, you get what you pay for, same for pricey things, i'd say go for it. :-)
