Why is traffic heavier on mondays and fridays? Or is that an illusion?
Answers:
There are those that go away for short breaks from Friday to Monday so sometimes you get the travellers on those days.
Also some people travel to work on Mondays and stay away from home only to return on Fridays.
Many deliveries are made on Mondays. And also many people go away to school and stay there for the week and come back on Fridays.
Many people go abroad on Mondays or Fridays so airport traffic may be higher too.
Just a few suggestions.
people are travelling into and out of cities at the beginning and end of the week..
Some people commute to work on a Monday, stay there the week, then drive home on Friday - some students do this too.
Nope becasue some people work in citys and maybe live in the country so they like have 2 homes and on the monday they go to the city for there week of work and then travel home on the friday for the weekend!!
A lot of people take Friday off to extend the week-end, but go back on Monday.
yes it is but sme people commute and live in a different place for a week therefor they are going to work onte monday and home on the Friday. also a lot of people run late on mondays and finish work early on fridays therefore it causes more people on the roads at the same time
Alot of people live away from big cities and travel in on a monday and go home on the Friday (Reps and so on).. But the M25 is still terrible on a Sunday..
i think its a school traffic thing to many kids are getting lifts to school when they should be walking unless they live miles and miles away
Simple, people who work a long way from their family may choose to rent locally to their job during the week and travel long distance back on a Friday afternoon, making the return trip back to their area of work on a Sunday evening or Monday morning. Further, those who take weekend breaks are travelling on Friday evenings to maximise weekend time away. Net result - more traffic as the working week begins and closes.
Because thats life dude
A lot of my work involves me being away from home, thus I travel on Monday, live in B&B and come back on the Friday. I see hundreds of others doing the same, so maybe that at least in part explains it
Its probably because its the end of one weekend and the start of another!
I find the traffic busier Mondays but quieter Fridays. I do get stuck in school traffic too but not as much Fridays, maybe less kids go to school Friday? Guess its different everywhere though.
Your right people need to be at work monday to pay for the weekend. And the boss likes you working on friday so he can leave early. Sundays church traffic and Shopping malls.
You go to work on Monday to moan about how unwell you are feeling, phone in sick on Tuesday to Thursday and return to work on Friday to avoid getting a doctors note and get heaps of sympathy to boot.
I know many people who stay the extra night (sunday) with their families, leave at stupid O' clock, and get to work just in time to freshen up and work. I thought it only happened in the military, when you tend to live far from home.
Maybe its because people tend to go away on weekends and maybe leave on Fridays and return Mondays. they are perhaps people who do not normally drive but because they are going away they are driving.
Also, on Fridays people probably tend to knock off early and it causes more people to be on the roads at a one time as opposed to a staggered end to the day.
Not sure though!!
Its all the people trying to get things done on friday so they dont have to do it on the weekend when things are closed or too crowded. And on Monday its all the people that had to wait over the weekend to do things because they didnt get it done on friday.
Monday is the first day of the work week and most people always show up to work. On Friday they are surely to go to work to get that pay-check. Other days in between and weekends they are either off and ill in nature. Therefore traffice will be slowed on these days.
People are rushing around on Mondays in an effort to catch up with the backlog from weekend orders - on Friday everyone want to finish early - hence a mass scramble to get everything sorted.
Sunday may seem heavier with traffice when in fact it is only the old codgers out for their sunday drive - they fear to go above 30mph in the fear that they will not be able to breath at that speed
One of lifes mysteries however a lot of people travel in to the cities and stay there for the week on Mondays and then travel back for Friday to be home at weekends and who can blame them. To travel many miles to work must be a total pain not to mention expensive so it must be cheaper to stop over.
traffic is also bad mornings and early evening and when school/college is off we can fly through the traffic it used to make a three quater of an hour diffrence to me travelling to and from work when they were shut woot woot!
Sunday I do not go out in car as you have what I call "Sunday drivers only" have you ever been behind one of those? Hell on earth snail pace and scared of the road most dangerous to all on road.
no it is not an illusion, and honestly i dont know myself sorry
No, the M6 is a pain in the *** permanently.
No cannot see that at all. I don't think my car or any other car bus train Ect puts on weight its the same weight all the time no matter what day of the week it is .
