Hi can someone tell me how to get stickers off my car paintwork?
Answers:
There's a anti-adhesive on the market that takes off that nasty, gooey sticker adhesive. Its called Goo-Gone, they should have it at any autoparts store. That stuff does suck to try and take off by hand! Good luck.
There are two products on the market- Goo-off and Goof-off. They are sold in hardware stores. They'll do the job, but don't leave them on too long because they could soften the paint. Both contain xylene.
well you already trashed it by putting stickers on the paint. only on glass and if they are on the inside of your window there goes the defroster. you can try using goo gone or lighter fluid to remove the glue and hopefully it works just put a little of what ever you try on the inside of your door jam so that you can test it on paint with out taking away from the exposeed part of the body. good luck
Try "goo-gone," but first check its ingredients as it may be too harsh for your paint.
Try Milsek brand furniture polish and cleaner. Good stuff for that.
Good question. Get some D40, (oil penetrate) spray on let stand for 5 minutes then work the decal off. Use soap[ and water to get the WD 40 off.
3 in 1 oil and a lot of patience gets them off. Try the oil in an inconspicuous spot first as it can damage some paints.
Try to raise the top a bit and put some of the oil on the resulting edge. Leave it for a few hours. You'll be able to pull it up a little more. Just keep repeating the process until its all gone.
wd40 should work fine
W.D.40
heat them up with a hairdryer til they're soft or a cloth soaked in boiling water til the adhesive is soft.then either peel off or scrape off with a plastic spatula or nylon fish slice. any residue can be removed with something like GT85 (WD40 is petrochemical therfore may attack some finishes) or I have heard of baby oil being used to remove tar so may work on sticky residues.. good luck pal.
WD-40 also works good, and doesn't soften the paint!
soak the stickers with baby oil and leave the oil to penetrate them, u should then be able to scrape them off with a scraper like u would use to scrape your car windows in the winter.
heat gun or blow dryer on hottest setting and then a lil polishing compound and wax
use a hairdryer, and boiling soapy water, not at the same time, once u get a piece of the sticker lifted, use the hairdryer at the base of the sticker, where it still attached to the car, lightly pull the sticker, while U heat the sticker, it should come off easily, don't pull it hard. as the stick peels off move the hairdryer down slowly heating the rest of the stick.
after the sticker is off, use the soapy boiling water and a cloth to wipe off the rest of the glue
get some FLASH, some water and a plastic spoon(one you will use for TEFAL frying pan). put water on a sticker then scrub it with the spoon, then put flash and scrub..and so on..had this problem once.good luck.
go inside, nick your missus' hair dryer and heat it up and then peel it off with an old credit card or something then for the glue that's left over get some brake disc cleaner, you can get it for about 2 quid from your local motorist store!
should sort it all out for ya.
This is how to remove them. I apply & strip vinyl stickers & full liveries on a daily basis - it's my job!!
Warm them with a heat gun. I stress WARM them. If you get the temperature just right - the glue will come off with the vinyl.
For any glue left over - either a citrus based adhesive remover. Scotch & 3M make good ones, or at a push, unleaded petrol on a cloth (enough to soften the glue). A bit of patience & rubbing and it will come off. It does NOT damage the paintwork.
Once done, clean any residue off with very soapy water.
T-cut & polish if required.
have used parafin to remove aftermath of stickers, have a bit of care though its easy to make a real mess of things. When youve done wash it all thouroughly.
Heat Gun, and Road Traffic Tar & Adhesive remover by AutoGlym. Gently heat the sticker and peal off, apply the Adhesive remover and wipe clean.I would then advise you to polish up with PDI polish. (This also contains a gentle cutting paste which will remove any remaining marks). Hope this helps!
The easiest way is to use a hot air gun that blows hot air, u should be able to get one from any hardware store, it basically warms the glue undernaeth and they peal straight off leaving no glue behind, if it came to it you could probably use your mums hairdryer if its pretty powerful, but it will take a hammering. good luck
2 easy ways hair dryer to soften it & it should come of easily but pull it slowly & any reidue of glue can be got off by spraying with wd40, let it soak in & rub it off with a soft cloth
Pick long the top edge of decal so that the egde is slightly away from bodywork, and using a small brush dipped in white spirit dab along the edge of the decal and bodywork keeping it wet, this will soften the adhesive, if you pull the sticker off in bits there won`t be a little well to hold the white soirit. You may have to warm the decal to stop it breaking off in pieces.
Hope this helps.
hot hair dryer.tar and glue remover to wipe off excess.
dont use a heat gun its ti hot and will start removing the paint a hairdryer wil be hot enough
blast them with a hair dryer to soften the sticker it will then peel of easy, then wd 40 spayed on the bit of glue left will remove it.
Hi Guys, thanks for the help, hairdryer, then ice scraper followed by WD40 worked a treat. Took about 15 minutes to remove.
