Go along to your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
I hope this helps.
police
write to Mr Clarke personally, be polite and tell your story, if no result sue them on line
I would contact everyone and anyone at Arnold Clark, and demand they return your car to you. Personally I find pestering the salesman who sold you the car and ringing anyone at Arnold Clark you can find helps, asks for the sales manager at the branch you bought the car from each time, they will get so fed up of you pestering them, that they will get your car fixed and back to you as soon as poss!
Good luck. I don't think you're alone in having problems with Arnold Shark. There's a website called arnoldsucks.com which has loads of similar horror tales. I think spending millions on advertising stops the papers scrutinising dodgy deals.
Go and see a lawyer. Threaten to take them to court. Contact all of the tabloid papers and give them your story. One is bound to take it on. GMTV are really good for this type of problem too.
by law they can not hold your car they have to sue you for money you owe that's what judge Joe brown wold say take the bum to court
Write to every motoring magazine you can find and also Top Gear, Vroom Vroom and any other televison motoring programme you can think of.
Then try and borrow a large van, get some signs made up saying `Arnold Clarke ripped me off` and park it slap bang outside their showroom and invite the local press along (and the nationals). try and get a pa system and hand out leaflets to anyone going in. Watch their sales staff sh*t themselves and watch customers walk out. If you stop just one person buying a car off them then you`ve had a result, even if it`s a small one. Best of luck, hope you get some satisfaction.
Oh, I`ve seen people put listings on eBay before saying they`ve been ripped off by various garages and they got tons of support.
£25 to lodge a summons at 'small claims court'.
Take ALL paperwork & start recording ALL contact you have as a log - date, time & place.
Also get an indepandant mechanic to verify under oath that your personal choice of tyres could have no effect on the failed gearboxes.
DO NOT start a defamation war - they (as a company) WILL win as it is ONE manager / ONE branch and NOT the entire company that is holding your car.
Go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau. Visit a solicitor. get legal aid & take them to court.
report it to the police
