I need a mobile air con unit(which works) that i can just plug into the car's cigarette lighter to power it up
Answers:
god luck with that, i'm an electrician and the one on the car needs a load of at least 30 amps just to turn on and to plug a regular one in even if it is 240v will still draw a large amount of amps. the one on your house has a 240 volt supply but the coil it runs is about the size of a small cooler and is 30 amp rated. the lighter is only rated at 10 or 15 amps max and is 12volt supplied. to supply a 240 volt ac at that output it must be modofied with 600 amp wire and a really good inverter to pull the load. lots cheaper to get a fan and plug it in blowin in your face. The germans use those instead of getting their stuff fixed.
try to invent one, hows that?
It would cost you MUCH less money to just have the air conditioner in your car fixed. Besides, the 18-guage wire that all manufacturers use to suppy the cigarette lighter will can only supply ~20A.
Oh, did I mention that you'd have to spend $800-1,000 on an alternator to supply enough amperage to supply even a small window unit AC air conditioner?
You can not put an air conditioner in an enclosed space and cool the air. An air conditioner works by removing the heat from the air and pumping it out the back. If you have it in an enclosed space it will actually be a heater that sends a little cold air out the front. The air temp in the space would increase instead of decrease because it is far More efficient to heat air than it is to cool it. Hope I have been helpful
