Need to trace a car to see if its insured?

had an accident and need to trace the vehicls reg to see if its insured

Go through the police,it should be reported to them anyway !
dont mess about if you had an accident go to the police if your in doubt about the insurance details
Did you not sort this out at the time?
You can try to contact the Department Of Motor Vehicles in the state it is registered in. Some states will release that information. Otherwise file a police report.
