I know what you talking about but cant remember the official term for it but i believe it only applied to the time when you didnt need to take a test to drive a vehicle but when the official driving test was introduced those who already were driving did not have to sit the test nand became know as grandfather rights as was only grand fathers held thes licences after a while (as population got older)
didn't know that it had
i really don't understand the question, is it just me ?
thank you for clarifying your question i really didn't know about it
At age 70, you have to pass a physical or declare that you are fit to drive.
Thereafter, you have to repeat this every 3 years.
1966, APPROX
licences issued before Jan 1st 1997 have grandfather rights to tow trailers if that is what you are on about?
Up to about 10 years ago,i think it was but it didnt affect me, you could drive vehichles up to 7490kg gross vehicle weight on an ordinary car licence. Then they changed the regulations and if you passed your driving test after a certain date you could only drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross. The grandfather rights for driving vehicles over 7490kg finished in the 1960s and even then your employer had to tell the government what vehicle you were driving and how heavy it was as well as its class ie 1,2 or 3 in order for you get the driving licence you needed. If you pass your driving test now the biggest thing you can drive will be a panal van of the Transit size.I hope this helps.
