Non return valve on fuel filter or pump, nissan almera tino?

can someone tell me if the non return valve is on the fuel filter or the fuel pump on a nissan almera tino because the diesel seems to be running back out of the filter when i leave the car standing for a couple of hours and i have to keep priming the filter each time. thanks

I think that you are thinking along the right lines in that it could be a faulty filter head but i would try replacing the entire filter assembly, ie all the 'O' rings and a new filter. It sounds like the car is drawing air whilst standing for a while and it could be caused by a misfitted filter.I recently saw this on a Skoda Octavia, the car needed a lot of turning over first thing. Everything was tried and the fault was eventually traced to the centre o ring on the filter.Other than that, its a case of checking all the fuel connections and joints to make sure that there is no air getting in.
sounds like you have an air leak in your fuel system. if the system is air tight it would not need to be primed. the check valve would be on the fuel pump, but still there is a leak in your fuel system.doesnt mean that it leaks fuel, just means that its drawing air
