Is there a web site i can get a code for my car radio ( preferably free)?

I took the battery out of my car thinking i had the radio code, but i have misplaced it. One dealer wanted 20 Euros to give it to me. The car is a rover 400, thanks

You may try calling a few stores that install radios, sometimes you get a nice one that will tell you how to get around it. I had an Audi A4 and was told it had to be taken to the dealer to have the VIN and the radio's serial number run however my friend was able to get it back on without the code.
Just take your autoradio with the keys provided by the seller.if you dont have those keys just use very small skrewdrivers but long, one in each side, pull it out and you will find a four digit number somewhere around the stereo.but 1st check your manual book, problably it will be a number in the stereo part of the book.
I am afraid you are stuck. This is the modern way of preventing theft of stereos. The dealer should give you the code for free if you can prove you own the car and give him the serial number off the radio. My dealer told me the same thing but it turned out the fee they wanted was for the labor of removing the stereo and getting the serial number, and then reinstalling it.

Goog luck!
