There's been a lot of speculation. The first Stig was found to be Perry McCarthy; the currrent Stig, no one really seems to know about.
That's a kickass show, by the way. Clarkson cracks me up.

The Stig can be anyone, that's the beauty of him/her.
A number of different people have filled in for stunts or special cars (Renault F1, Maserati MC12).
The main track driver was Perry McCarthy until he went public, that's when they killed him off with the XJS aircraft carrier stunt.
There have been strong rumours that Julian Bailey has been Stig in the past.
The main Stig now is (allegedly) Ben Collins, a top all round racer, ideal for the test track sequences. He's also involved in the driving for things like the MPH shows with Jeremy.
