How can I remove or reset the code on a CD changer?

I have a 4 disc cd changer separate from the radio, standard with the car. Due to dead battery both radio & cd needed their codes. I don't have the code for the cd as it was replaced by Vauxhall under warranty & despite paying £20 & giving them the serial number they are unable to supply the correct code. Apparently the garage doing the warranty work screwed up.

I have a working radio but the cd will not function unless I can zap the code or get it re-programmed. Vauxhall tell me they do not have the equipment to do this.

I cannot prove that the garage that did the warranty work screwed up because the car used to belong to my ex-employer & therefore I don't have any paperwork and there is no contract with me under which I could take legal action.

Can anyone tell me how to do it?

I really do appreciate anyone taking the time to answer the question but I actually need to know how to solve the problem not well meaning suggestions that I should sue the garage.

have you tried to contact the actual dealer that sells that car(example: ford or chevy). if the cd changer is from the factory you should be able to get the code for both the radio and the cd changer from them.
I had this problem, too, and it took quite a bit of doing to get the code so the Bose CD-radio deck could be re-set.

I first called the car's manufacturer (Acura), but they didn't have it, owing to an unfortunate purge of their corporate records about three years earlier.

I ultimately went to a local car-stereo installation shop that knew how to get the code, though it required their taking the unit out of the dash to retrieve its serial number, which they then used to look up the correct re-set code.

Since you already have the serial number to your unit, it should be a simple matter of calling installation shops to see if one or more of them can provide the code.

PS: I recently had a repair done on my car that required the battery to be disconnected -- which de-activated the CD player once again. Because I'd written down the code and put it in a safe place after the first incident, I had it up and running as soon as I retrieved my car. Once you get the code, I suggest you do the same thing, but don't put it in a place where a thief can get at it -- that's why these units are built with security codes in the forst place (to make them worthless in the event they're stolen).
i am not sure with that model but go to the website of the manufacturer and look up that model and the manual. If that is not listed or not in manual, I would recommend calling the customer service # and asking them. That is your best bet I think.
yes its thier responsibility to give you correct code cuz you paid£20 for it for nissan primera the code is 1234 when you take the battery out well its common code why dont you try it
