Depends on what you mean by rust! If the rust has come from the inside (ie you can stick a screwdriver through it) then the only real fix is to cut and weld in some new metal. If its just surface stuff then sand away ALL rust / skim with filler / shape up and prime local area / respray to the nearest body line to keep as small as possible (im thinking your probably going to using spray cans).
lol sounds easy doesnt it :)
BTW. forget using any so called rust treatment!, trust me!
To be fair your better off giving it to someone who knows what they are doing. If you want to send me some pics i should be able to tell you how bad it is and give you a rough idea of what you should be paying to get sorted.
from someone whos rubbed cars for far to long! :)
Probably take it to a bodyshop as DIY paint repairs never turn out well and it usually costs you twice as much in the long run if you don't know what your doing!
there is something called krust, what you have do is scrap all of the rust off and put some of it where the rust was. you can buy it from halfords.
Hammerite - if it's an old car that you don't want to spend loads of money on.
depending on how much the car is worth if its woth quite a bit and its quite new youll probably be better off by getting a whole new pannel .. saves messing round otherwise if its old jus scrap it
Use KBS Coatings rust repair system. Simply follow the directions. It's easy, trust me. I would think their KBS System Sampler kit is your best deal if you're only talking a small amount of rust here & there. The repair Kit is only $16.95 and has enough products to treat a 12 sq ft area in two coats. Call them if you have other concerns or questions.they know what's best.

Hey, they have a "2 for 1" special running now. What a great deal!
I would recommend KBS Coatings. They make a system that you can use. The RustSeal will seal up the rust and you will never have to worry about it again. http://www.kbs-coatings.com/kbs-rustseal.
