How do i get the power lead to my amp from my battery? do i need to make holes??

not sure if i need to drill a hole or just find a hole in my firewall so i can run my amp power cable!!

Answers:
Usually there is a hole in your firewall, usually with a rubber grommet in in it. If not, you can drill a hole just big enough to fit the cable Thur. But be sure you get a rubber grommet to prevent leaks.

Since you already have the amp installed, you might be careful of future problems.

Since the amp is not FACTORY INSTALLED, the stock alternator DOES NOT have enough juice to power you amp.

You are going to kill your alternator,& your battery. The reason is your alternator is stock(installed at the factory)is only designed to maintain the battery and the stock equipment. When you add a another assecorsy(not factory installed). The alternator senses this drain, and keeps putting out juice to the battery, and the alternator will over work itself untill it dies.

The only way to over come this problem is to get a alternator that is custom built to handle all the power you amp is going to take from the battery.
depending on the car you have and where you are going to install the amp, if not in boot. You will need to fix the amp to something to stop it rolling around and wires being ripped out and possibly shorting the cars electrics!!
Normally you will have a gap big enough for the wire to go through from the engine into the car near your glovebox. Then you just run the cable under the sides off car then behind back seat into boot.
You generally would be very unlucky if you had to drill a hole specially for the wire (which is marked positive)! And your negative wire can fix onto a bolt on your rear lights or somewhere on the bodywork. Hope this help and good luck!!
Find a hole in the firewall and run it through one of the grommets, and run it down the side. Also a stiffening capacitor is highly recommended. The cars stock alternator can maybe handle it depending on the make and model, my truck does and so do other cars easily, just check to see how much you alternator puts out.
Drop me a line with the Year, make, and model of car and i will tell you the fastest and easyest way.
