First clean the engine ( steam or degrease)check the injectors it is a small leak on the base of the small hose do to the vibration of the engine and maybe the hose is hard and not flexible.replace them. I hope this will help you.
hope you dont fricking smoke
fuel line leakage maybe r if not most likely bad exhaust system if its an old car.. get the inspection done n see whats wrong.. i'd go with the exhaust system as the problem..
You may still have a small leak. Get it up onto a ramp and get it checked.
If its only when you first start you're car up this is normal
hold a lit match under the car ( cause its dark under there ) to see where the leak is coming from, problem should be solved by the time u find it
maybe your O2 sensor is out of wack. this would cause your car to burn more gas than it actually needs. thus creating a gas smell.
If the smell is inside the cabin: check the fuel filler cap, the rubber seal wears, and petrol can often be smelt from there.
Check your fuel lines, and also your fuel pnmp might be leaking.
Perhaps change another brand of petrol and see if the smell is still there.
Check your filler cap is sealing correctly, if this is not the fault recheck all your fuel lines .
there could be a leak in the diaphragm in your carburetor. you can sort this problem by UN screwing the diaphragm but watch out there is a spring there so hold it down tight. there will be a little piece of rubber with a hole in it that pushes the petrol through.my guess is that there will be another hole in it some were.you can get another one out off the same type of model from your scrap yards.
Probably your plugs aren't igniting all the fuel so it is just going out the exhaust. If there are no petrol leaks and your exhaust is new then your engine isn't igniting the fuel properly.
i dont know if this will help or not,but check your canister filter(its where your return lines hook up under your hood, its called charcoal canister),it has a filter under it,and if it gets clogged up it will make a gas smell(i know mine did)good luck.
check none of your breather pipes are split, this can cause a smell of petrol
