In England how do you get a untaxed vehicle removed from the streets?

The Police are not always keen to take any action. Is there a procedure? Via web pages?

Under the computerised system, can the Police find out if a vehicle is taxed? Can this sort of work be privatised? Would that be a good idea?

Answers:
Report it to the local council, they usually remove untaxed cars pretty quickly.

The police now have specialist scanners - a quick scan of the number plate will tell them whether the car has tax/insurance/mot.
Phone your local council or sell it on eBay (if its yours).
look on the DVLA website
just call the local council they have people who take them away
set fire to it
Inform the DVLA and phone your council..its classed as littering!!
ask a pikey down the pub

report it to your local dvla office. the address is on the dvla web site.
Go to the DVLA, they should have a website, and you can report them there and it should be removed.
