Sub and amplifier advice please!?

I have a sub and amp which are waiting 2 go in my car. My question is. Is there anyway to wire the sub/amp so it doesnt drain my battery or do i have to turn the power off the amp if i want to listen to my stereo with the engine off?

Can i run it off a remote live maybe?

Your wise input is greatly needed!!!

Answers:
you can wire a switch between the head unit remote turn on lead to the amp. That way you can switch the amp on and off when ever you want.

head unit remote turn on ---------- on/off switch----------amp turn on lead connection

I used to do this when my parents rode in the car. Now, my alpine head unit has a feature to turn on and off the sub signal (RCA) that I turn off whent he baby is in the car.
You could perhaps buy and fit a larger capacity battery assuming you alternator can keep it charged.
The only other option i can think of. Is putting a seperate Battery in your car just for your amp.lots of people do it. Other wise no, itll kill your battery..

Youll have to start it everyonce in awhile.. or disconnect it.. and youll have no power to your amp.
If your planning on running your system with your car off, a second battery is recommended. A battery isolator would also be recommended to keep both batteries charged.
WELL DON, ARE YOU DRAINING YOUR BATTERY WILL THE CAR IS OFF OR TURNED ON. IF THE CAR IS RUNNING, IT COULD BE YOUR BATTERY, ALTERNATOR NOT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH VOLTAGE{DOES YOUR AMPS TURN OFF AND ON WHILE PLAYING? SIGN OF A WEAK BATT.}IF OYUR CAR IS OFF AND THE BATTERY KEEPS DIEING, YOU CAN RUN 2 BATTERIES WITH AN ISOLATOR IN BETWEEN THEM. THAT WAY YOU ONLY RUN DOWN THE "STEREO" BATTERY. AND IT WILL BE RECHARGED WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. YOUR AMPS REMOTE WIRE CAN HOOK TO A POWERED WIRE THAT TURNS ON AND OFF WITH THE KEY. AFTER MARKET DECK? IT SHOULD HAVE ONE. IF NOT, TAP INTO THE FUSE BOX.
dont listen to them at all. take the remote wire and wire it through a switch. the switch will the control the amp being powered or not, thus you could turn your car off and have your amp off and being listening to your radio without draining your battery
have a spare battery.
I hooked up a sound system ( Sub Amp Speakers and Cd Player) into a 93 Starlet Toyota incase your wondering you can still play it when the car is off you need a Romote wire but it wont actually work without it and there is other wires you will need to buy seperatly depending on your stereo
