My 02 vw sharan steering wheel shakes at motorway speed is this normal on these if not why?

check tire balance
You need to get your tires (sorry, "tyres") balanced. You'll find there's a specific speed it happens at, and it'll go away slower or faster (don't get a ticket!)
Perhaps a good idea to get tracking checked and the wheels balanced,this is a common factor to cause a little wobble at around 50-70mph approx
its just your suspension and the tyres and making them work harder so just take ya time driving and it will stop or just do what ever you do and don't worrie about the shaking! no concern, if you seek more advice go to your nearest Halfords!

Your tyres need balancing. Usually when the steering wheel shakes it means that the wheels and tyres need balancing this can be done by any good tyre fitting firm and should only take about 10min a wheel.The wheels have to be removed from the vehicle and placed on a wheel balancing machine that checks them and tells the fitter where to put the little lead weights.
If you have bumped a kerb on your travels this could also create a similar problem but get the tyres done first then if the problem persists get your wheel alignment checked as this is a little more time consuming and more expensive.

have your wheel alignment checked at Kwikfit or similar. it will cost about £25. Your car is probably too young to have serious wear to ball joints etc.
