What is the cost of fixing cracked windscreen in a car with rac or similar company?
Answers:
Most CHIPS can be repaired - but sometimes cracks require a replacement screen.
If you have fully comprehensive insurance, you can probably get it replaced under your policy for £50 or repaired for free.
If you are not covered - then anything from £150 to £500 for a new screen.
If you have to pay for it - phone round the smaller independant companies for quotes - they can be half the price of the big nationals for the same product.
if you have insurance with them it should be free
this should be free if you have comprehensive insurance
If its a chip free, full windscreen normally £50 excess on your insurance policy.Does not effect your no claims bonus.
Check you paper work as you may have to pay an excess charge on your insurance other wise to just replace it will be very expensive if you do not want to do via insurance company
Anywhere from £35 up over..
The local RAC gave me a quote for my car a while ago, and said £35, takes about 45 mins to an hour.
But also check your insurance (if fully comp & depending who you're with) You may get it done for free
if it's cracked the you will have to have a new windscreen they can't be fixed
if you have fully comp insurance the price will be your excess normally about 50 - 100 pounds the cost of a windscreen differs with the type of vehicle
if ur insured fully comp prob bout 50 quid in excess but if not ur lookin ad between 250 5/600 pound, back window on my pals audi quattro ( old one) cost him 500
your excess on screen only
You can get a kit at the auto parts store to do this with for under $20 that is pretty easy to do. Follow the directions to the letter, and it will be good as new! Good Luck!
if your city/state/county allows it, there are products out there that will repair the crack with some sort of an epoxy solution. i have sucessfully repaired a 2 cm chip with such a product (i cant recall the the name of the product). it worked very well. i coud not tell where the chip was before. your local auto parts store should have some.
