Astra keeps stalling when slowing down at junctions?

97 astra, 95,000 miles. happened 3/4 times this week. And occasionally when im moving up the gears the car jolts like it cuts out for just a split second then carries on. Im guessing these are connected. Was serviced/MOT last month so i wasnt expecting this problem. any help appreciated

had a similar problem with a corsa i used to own. mine was difficult to start it cut out also. turned out to be the coolant temp sensor. reason :sensor thinks the car is too hot so the ecu makes the fuel system run lean to the point were it cuts out. i bought a sensor from a scrap yard for a tenner. i think vauxhall wanted 80 odds for it. could poss be the egr valve or a.n.other sensor though. good luck!
it sounds like a dirty idle motor and throttle body, would like to know the engine size/type or maybe a dirty egr valve.
DO U HAVE PETROL ??
sell it and buy my Peugeot its really reliable and has only done 38000 miles
i had a similar problem with my car, i just left the garage as well where my car was serviced. It was the spark plugs, 1 of them was snapped in half and 1 didn't sit in propper so i went back to the garage and had it done free of charge.
mine does the same now. but it did this once before when I had to change the alternator. so the best thing to do would be get the thing certified again.. bring it to a national testing centre once more and let them look it over, if they can't find anything wrong, leave it in to someone you trust to look it over. Let them test it and feel for themselves if they can't find anything. I had to do just that.

the alternator is a vital part of your engine that feeds power to and from the battery like a dynamo, if that's a good explanation. Simply put, there will be no power in your car being transferred from your battery to your engine without a good alternator!

Just like a light on a bicycle won't work properly unless the copper inside is good, an alternator will burn out just the same.

If you have AC in your car and don't a 100W alternator. you will be facing problems.

But, get it checked out dude.
had the same problem with mine, take it to a dealer and ask for a diagnostic check, this will cost about £50. they will tell you the VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR is bust. this will be about another £160 to get fixed. trust me, mine was doin the same and now it's sorted. happy motorin my friend.
this could be dirty fuel or an injecter not working corectly or dirty thotle body
try putting injecter cleaner in the fuel tank first!
you can get this in halfords be care full there are 2 types 1 for petrol & 1 for deisel.
Possibly the idle control valve (if i recall correctly), its a common problem on the Astras, they cann become stuck.
Mine for example would rev itself silly until it warmed up, then it would run ok, but when you tried to drive it would just cut out.

We had it serviced, we had the ECU replaced at the same time and all is well again.
sounds to me like air in the fuel line. go to a pro and they should be able to tell u for sure, sorry i cant say any more.
1. there are two fuel filters one under the bonnet and one beneath the car beside the rear wheel drivers side which never gets changed on any servive this can create a vacum between the two when you take your foot of the throttle and stall the car.
2. check the fuel line below the car for any damage
3. the coil can start to go once the car heats up then will restart once it gets cool again
clean throttle body
