How can I fix Ford KA wipers? They work but only if I manually push them vertically 1st.?
Answers:
well its either the nut at the bottom of the arm. or the linkage below and if that is wrong then its the motor
That'll be Ford for you
Could be something loose on the wiper drive linkage
Try some WD 40 on the rotor arm underneath the bonnet !
Most likely cause of the problem is the nut that holds the wiper arm to the wiper spindle pry back the cover and tighten the nut!
New wiper motor, the gearbox inside is knackered
"Knackered" Must be English. I agree you can remove the cover that covers the worm gear on the motor check condition of the plastic gear probably has one spot with out teeth Replace motor assembly. Both the wiper arms loose and linkage can be the problem also so tighten the arm nuts under the plastic covers at the fulcrum / wiper shafts. That Ford is called Espire in USA
By pushing them you may have gotten them out of alignment. Be sure they are in the right position to begin with. If they are too low and are catching on the bottom of the windshield then they won't go up on their own.
think your looking at a new wiper motor.
I had this same problem on a 7 series BMW it's probably the wiper knuckle. It can be repaired using chemical metal
