My friend was driving his car when his battery fell down through the engine bay and he ran over it which then?

pulled the starter off which also got run over, will his insurace cover him

Answers:
no
unless he has a caring insuracne company, he wont be able to claim anything without hiring a lawyer
no i don't think it will,,this a mechanical issue,,and i have been through it with a insurance company before,,there policy states that it will cover certain things,,but mechanical issues,,are different,,i had a battery blow up on one,,and they wouldn't cover it,,simply because it has to do with the mechanical part of the car,if it had happened in an accident they would have covered it,,i hope this helps,,good luck,,you may have a better ins-company than i do.
This is a maintenance issue, and wouldn't be worth your rates going up. I would take your car to a mechanic to assess the damages. Your parts would probably be less than your deductible anyway.
no because the car has to be in a roadworthy condition if he does try to take them to court to pay he will get done for having no insurance and a faulty vehicle as his insurance will be void
Woah! Never heard of that one! What happenned to the battery tray, and the big bad bolts and clamps securing the battery, and the leads themselves, and I don't see how it could pull the starter motor off at all, maybe it just ripped the solenoid from the starter body. Most starter motors are held on by two or three bad-boy bolts, each of which you could tow the car on. Sounds like rust and poor maintenance, so I'd say "No." Don't be bothering an insurance company with this, they'll only stiff you next year, and the next, and the next. You need a battery, about £35, a starter motor, around the same, try eBay, and that's it.
If he has full comp. insurance, yes.
Insurance will only cover the damage done when the car ran over the battery and starter. The other two events are classified as mechanical failure, for which there is no coverage.
PS -- this car sounds like a REAL cream-puff.
This is nearly as hard to believe as the Tooth Fairy, Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster.
does it cover acts of sod?

sod's law hehehe!
I think this all hinges on how well maintained the car was. It appears glaringly obvious that for a battery to collapse through its carrier, the whole thing must have been poorly maintained . I mean what else was ready to disintigrate? You cannot expect an insurance company to cover obvious neglect. And how on earth did that 'pull the starter off??' . Either your friend is extremely stupid or you are having a laugh here!!
so he was driving a wreck then
I very much doubt it. find out who replaced the battery and failed to secure it.
your friend must have heard the starting noise change as the stater became looser, these things do not just fall off!
i doubt if his insurance will cover it.
No.
He should have been taking better care of his car.
no coz if that really did happen it would mean that the car is not in a road worthy condition, and Ur car is only covered on the assumption that it is road worthy

he would of had to be going very fast, cos for the battery to fall off, and have the energy to snap the bolts that hold on the started motor, which are very very strong, they need to be due to the amount of torque the start motor produces.
does he carry IDIOT or MORON coverage unless he does he will have to pay for it out of pocket, that is assuming he is smart enough to know what a pocket is for. Some beings have NO business driveing anything beyond a tricycle.
No
