How can I take the Citroen C2 stereo out and put in my Sony stereo in and keep the on screen displays?

I'm not fussed if the steering wheel remote does'nt work (bonus if it still can) but how do I keep the display from (well) displaying stuff e.g petrol, date/time etc ? Plus I want to get a set of speakers of a good sound quality, nothing on the ridiculous window shattering level, but that can take bass without distortion ? Many thanks

This could be of interest to you, I use a Connects 2 adapter to convert the multichanger socket on my stereo to a line in socket for my mp3 player. It works perfectly.

I dont think you can. you need to take it to citroen and get them to do it as they need to reconfigure the cars computer so it will accept the new stereo. We tried to swap a stereo form a c3 into a xsara and it wouldnt work. We contacted citroen and they told us that we had to get it done by them. They say it is to stop the stereos being stolen but really its to get as much money out of you as poss.
