I need new brake pads & discs for my P reg fiesta.?

How much is this going to cost me? Also I might need a wishbone - something to do with the front drivers side wheel?? Is this expensive?

Answers:
so you mean a front set.. 20 for the pads, 45 for the disks.. ish - 40 for the wish bone - probably 100 for labour.

the wishbone is the shitty bit, often has to be cut out. the pads, and disks you could do yourself in an hour, with a haynes manual

pads and disks should take a pro 30 mins tops, wishbone is anothe 30 mins, if all goes well, or slightly iffy

if in doubt, goto your for dealer, get a price, or phone them, them ask them how much for just the parts, as you might do it yourself

then, find your local spares shop, you probably know where it is, by the batteries and spray paint in the window.. give them a call, and get prices on the parts..

once you have your parts price, get your mechanics price, ask him how much is parts/labour.. offer to buy the parts if u need to, maybe say, wow, you charge more than my main dealer for labour, i will take it to them..

at least you get a decent warrenty on the work at a main dealer..
you might want to take a cream bun with you as a peace offering..

your friend wont b able to do the wish bone quite probably unless they are a mechanic with a garage.
new barake pads are about $150 and new discs is agonna cost around 200 so save up
$250 for the brakes, and Add another $122 for shocks
Try a brakers yard. They'll have cheap components from old bangers.
it depends no ofence but because your a woman they most probably rape you on the price but what i do is ring avp or ats or even halfords (in ur in u.k) and get a price on all the parts then you ll no roughly what it would be so if the parts are £100 and they want to charge you £400 you no that there taking the piss with £300 labour.
I got new brake pads and discs on my punto last week and it was £150
the wishbone will be expensive, the disc should b about £25 to £30 each, and a set of brake pads, which is 4 of them, should be £20 - £25

the parts aren't that expensive, it the labor changes that really kill ya

oh and don't buy from halfords, or any where else like that , try to find a place called Central auto supplies, or somewhere like that where most of the garages get there parts from, it will be a lot cheaper
Not sure about the wishbone but here's a link to a good brake site, use it to benchmark your quotes. Don't go to Kwik fit they quoted me a forture and suggetsed that I change all the tyres as well!
shop around don't get ripped off
Shouldn't cost no more than £25 for a pair of brake pads. Don't know about the rest, wishbone might be expensive though.
Scrap it!
Go to a motor factor like Partco or LCP. Discs, £40 pair, pads £20 a pair, and they'll do the wishbone too, also commonly called the track-control arm, about £30, 2 hours labour whatever that costs, there's your answer
buy it from Ford dealer
Front pads about £15 pair of discs about £25 and the bottom suspension arms are about £18 plus the vat to do the job you will need a jack wheel brace to remove the wheels 7mm Allen key to remove the brake calliper , 17 mm socket of spanner to remove the calliper mount bracket a hammer to remove the old discs change the bottom arm with the discs removed undo the bottom ball joint with a 16 or 17 mm nut on the pinch bolt ( size depends on year ) and a t45 torx bit on the bolt once you have the pinch bolt removed then using a ball joint splitter remove ball joint from hub to undo the back bolts you will need a 15mm socket or spanner for the bolt and an 18mm spanner for the nut remove both bolts and leaver the arm out assembly is opposite of removal should take no more than a couple of hours for a beginner however follow safety procedures for refitting using a suitable publication i.e. Haynes manual you will also need some copper grease for the brake runners hope this helps p.s. further to other answers it would realistically take a competent mechanic no more than an hour to do this job
Hi there,
If you go to one of your local motor factors, not dealers, they will probably supply you with new f. discs approx £30.00per pair, pads approx £18.00 and f, wishbone around the £40.00 mark. It's a case of findig a nice friendly mechanic to fit them then..
Good hunting.
