Neon light that go under cars are they illegal?

i think they look realy nice, i have considered getting some but i'm conserned about there legality, or will i just look stupid i have a red corsa old shape 3 door! need advise.

Answers:
In the UK, they are LEGAL under the 'lighting regulations'.

BUT, it REALLY depends on the colour.

You cannot show (lamp not underbody glow) RED to the front, or WHITE to the rear. It must NOT flash / strobe.

The police WILL give you a hard time generally for having them fitted - not for the lamps, but just pull you and check everything. Is the exhaust (muffler) too loud, windows too dark (tinted), are the neons secure, is your number plate legal?.. they can, and will, target you!
here in australia they are illegal.
They are illegal except for off road use.
I don't know, there doesn't seem to be any laws in Need For Speed !
yeah um that would be gay
I think they are you know!
Oh yes, they are illegal. They also tend to get broken rather quickly, so don't waste your money.
they are only illegal if you get caught with them!!!1 but i still think they look cool
I would say wait two weeks and if you can't live without them - go for it! The people at the store will inform you of any legality issues in regards to the lights and their placement on your vehicle.
They are not street legal and are only supposed to be used for show purposes. corsa LOL, just a modern nova, get a decent car.
It depends on the laws for your area. Some places they aren't others they are. I dont think that it will look nice on a Corsa though.
Yes they are illegal - and they look tacky as well. Save your money and buy a decent car. What do you hope to achieve in life by pimping your Corsa?
yes there legal, but the majority of them look mince unless there hidden correctly.
Check at your local metropolitan police station, not your local bobby office. They should know. Also check the net, as sometimes they are wrong!

It will look good and stylish if you feel good and stylish with the lights on. If you feel stupid when driving with them on, it will probably look stupid.

Its the image you put out when driving thats what people see. The emotion of it ! Not what your actually driving, or what colour. The atmosphere you project to others.
in the UK they are illegal i believe.

Why on earth would you want them they are cheap, tacky and other drivers laugh at you!

and with the age and model of your car it is the perfect sterotype for a chav car
It depends on your state law.
In Kentucky (where I'm currently located) they are legal with some caveats. No flashing lights, especially not red or blue. I would seriously recommend that you contact the police department in your area and inquire what the laws are in your area because I'm sure they differ from place to place.
Illegal.
Of course they are illegal, if you get one, the cops will pull you over, give you a ticket, you shouldn't get anything like that, it is very distracting and it may cause other people to have an accident, only because the light underneath the vehicle throws other drivers off, it makes you see things where there aren't or in a different place, it happened to me before at night once on the freeway, I thought there was something on the asphalt and threw me off, luckily I realized it early enough, but if you want to save yourself some headaches, don't even get it.
nope ,but it depends on the country u are ,out of context mainly its loud music n2o mufflers and small things but not neon under the car, paste a pic of the car and youl be shown where to put the lights
They just say 'boy racer.' And all right-minded drivers hate boy racers.
The reason? You never see a really nice car with neons. It's always some souped-up Vauxhall Nova with a ridiculous body-kit, full of skinheads, blaring some god-awful 30,000bpm rave mix and revving its engine at the lights like we're supposed to be impressed. Personally I wouldn't bother.
believe in the uk they are kinda legal depending on the colour. corsa? neon lights? think u should invest in a porsche first that would be worth being lit up lol
Now, just for a start, I'm allegedly on the UK/Ireland questions site, so you'd better tell us where YOU are. As the first answer is from an Australian and who knows where some of the others are from, how on earth can you hope to get a usable answer that applies to YOUR question.

YAHOO PLEASE NOTE
no they are legal, but if you can see the bulb itself then it would be illegal, other road users shouldn't be able to see the bulb but can see the glow is fine.
they look good on any car!
now thats a tricky one as i wanted them but was told they were illegal but then someone told me as long as they are not flashing neons you are ok but to be honest ive got blue neon speakers on my parcel shelf and ive had police behind me and never been pulled but that maybe that the police would rather get to the chippy on time than pull me!
Depends on whick State your in Check Local Reg's

Waho
no they not
as far as i know they are but there is a loop hole
if they are fitted right up behind the sills and the bulbs cannot be seen then i think the Raddie's cant do any thing about it.
it could be a load of poo though
they are 100% LEGAL..it is only illegal to drive with them on because it is a distraction to other drivers and can cause accidents from them taking there eyes off the road to see the glowing under your car. You can turn them on in parking lots, in your driveway, at car shows, basically anywhere you want as long as you dont drive with them on
