How will an lpg conversion affect the performance of a 2.4 turbo engine?
Answers:
It will affect your performance it will be less.LPG has a higher octane rating than gasoline about 100 octane in theory you could increase your compression ratio to slightly improve efficiency. The down side is the BTU (British thermal units) is lower giving less power than with gasoline. If properly set up you could have a less polluting vehicle. Hope this helps Regards Mick.
It'll lose a hell of a lot of power. I converted a 2.0 Astra to LPG and when running on gas it was like driving a 1.4..if it's performance you're after, don't do it..but for economy you can't complain about 43p per litre!
dad runs his motor home on LPG my mate runs his Renault 5 turbo on it so go a head get it done It wont if you have it done properly by a good LPG installer who will set it up to not affect the turbo and you will notice the difference in running cost plus the turbo will fill smother only if set up properly
I've been in the trade for years and every LPG car I've had has been trouble. Guaranteed that the money you save on performance will go back out on sorting burnt valves in about a year.
Whats most important is the type of conversion, your better off paying top buck, and getting a top of the range multi point injection system, remember you can still run on super unleaded at the flick of a switch if you need a bit more umph ! but the latest systems are closing the performance gap.
