My VW Beetle 1970 needs ive been told enw engine has the crank shaft is fualty. Is it possible for me to do it

The 1970 version of the VW beetle is pretty easy to replace the engine. You will need an engine hoist (to lift old engine out and put new engine in). You can get the engine from any VW parts supplier from anywhere from 300 to 600 dollars on average. Best place is one of those pick and pull places where you pull it yourself. Only like 4 bolts that hold the engine down, they just need to disengage the transmission case. Get yourself a Chilton Book on your year model and it will walk you through the steps.
If you are asking here I presume you do not know enough about cars to do it yourself. A new engine is not easy to do and takes quite a bit of work.
Only if you're a seriously good mechanic,a crankshaft repair or replace requires removal and strip down of the engine,a major task.
You can but I seriously suggest doing your homework first. You dont wanna jump in *** deep with something you dont understand.
If your in the Uk try these guys!!
I guess it is possible, but you need to make sure you know what your getting into. Take your time, and lable everything. You want to make sure you put everything back in its right place. When you do get the crank out, take it to a machine shop to have it checked out before you buy a new one. I suggest you get a manual and read it first. either chiltons or haynes manual, they are both good.
It's possible yes, most are rebuildable as the bearing caps can be removed to replace the bearing shells, but this is a huge job on any engine. If you're going to do it yourself number the bearing caps and conrods and also mark which end goes to which end, as they must go back exactly as they came off. Good luck.
label all the parts you take off wiring etc etc yes it is easy but depending on how soon you need it why not look around some good vw places and find out about putting putting a vw golf gti engine in it check with a good mechanic what you would need to do it .And get a Haynes Manuel for both if that is the road you take or one just for the replacing the engine . have some fun tune it body kit it alloy wheels you name do it your imagination will help have fun
U can if U know enough about cars, and have all the right tools

U have a couple of options :-

1. take the whole engine out and do a exchange it for a new/ reconditioned one, U'll find that most companies that do this do require Ur old engine on top of the fee for the new/reconditioned one

2. drop the engine out and strip it down Urself, and replace the crankshaft Urself

personally i would go for the second option, but i love doing things like that, and it cheaper, to get a new crankshaft, than replacing the engine
