Japanese imported 350Z sat nav conversion without buying from Nissan..?

I recently bought an imported 350Z with the original sat nav system installed. question is is there a way of connecting to the operating system and putting the UK lettering, maps and speech (ie, fully converting) on without
a) taking it to a Nissan dealer who will charge about £1500 or
b) using another manufacturers alternative where the screen doesnt fit properly and looks crap?
Admittedly I don't know much about this but I'm an engineer by trade so I'm not a complete numpty. It must be possible somehow as lets face it, they all use the same satellites and the operating system only uses the software loaded into it..
I know i sound like a cheap skate, but 1500 quid is a lot of beer, ha.
Anyone got any ideas??

Answers:
yea, give up the beer till you get it fixed.or drink more beer and you won't care.
