My 2003 Ford Escort's "Brights" will not turn off.HELP!?
Last night when I went to turn my cars headlights on, the "brights" indicator was on. I can not turn them off. They are not responding to the normal "clicking" of the turn signal bar. They continue to stay on..HELP!
Answers:
Disconnnect the battery.
Take out the bulb.
Then buy a Peugeot.
don't drive at night, just kidding
What happened is the "clicker" inside the steering column is possibly broken.
Try this, Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, while trying to click off the high beam, next try it all the way to the right, again while clicking the high beam.
If this does not help then you will have to have the switch replaced. That's about all you can do.
Its not a fun job to try on your own unless your really good at tiny screws and have a great memory, to put it all back together.
Recommend take it to a shop. about 150.00 to have it done. good luck Dave
2003 ford escort what the hell you talkin about ! focus?
Pull the turn signal lever back towards you, you must've pushed it forward by accident.
And yes, there were Escorts in 2003, for that dumby john b.
if U got a 2003 escort, the fact that Ur Brights light indicator is on is the least of Ur worries, as they stopped making the escort in 2001. but try to pull the indicator stick towards U
Didn't they stop building the Escort in 2000? Replace the switch unit its a relatively simple job.
you have a bad switch. don't try it yourself.its a pain.
You have an unhappy micro switch. One common thing that happens in Escorts is the spring that resets the switch is just a small rubber band around a little bump. When that rubber band wears out the switch wont extend enough to allow the switch to cycle. For a short term fix on these types of springs, you can usually just rotate the little rubber band about a quarter turn.
If this is the case you should still be able to cycle the switch by pushing the lever before pulling on it to "click" off the high beams.
kill the ford
have it checked out auto electrician
