I have economy 7 at home. They charge a lower rate for electricity used after a certain time. My storage heaters are set on economy 7 as is my emmersion so they heat up over night an costs me less.
its cheaper to heat ur water or use ur washing machine from the hours of 7pm til 1am
There is less damand on electricity at night so it can be sold at a lower price than during the day. Economy 7 utilises this by storing energy at night and giving it out during the day.
For 7 hours at night u get cheaper electricity because this is the time that there is least demand. Its best to do washing or cleaning at this time!
