Is it too much to ask?

Since this world also belongs to bugs and flies, why can't car windscreens be shaped like a ship's prow so they aren't squashed? It would help too, with fuel efficiency.

Answers:
whats a prow dont you mean BOW. mother nature is doing just fine without your meddling just leave her alone to do her job. nature creates 50% more than it needs because it knows 50%wont make it, what a clever little planet we live on dont we.what happens when the birds have got to much food I.E. flies. they eat far to much and there eggs become infertile and dont hatch. so whats it to be birds or flies. history has taught us not to interfear with nature but some of you still bloody try.
Ha - like that idea. Nice one.
intriguing thought.

interesting mind picture. thanks.
good idea , But I dont think the kids you hit would be to keen on the idea of it, The prow would cut them in half.
Distorted vision springs to mind.
Imagine the design problems! not to mention the costs involved.
i bet i beat you to the patent number! well get a move on!
Nice thought but it would be tough to see out of no?
First of all, if you were to have a windshield (windscreen in the UK) shaped that way, it could tend to distort the view of the driver. The cost to manufacture the glass would be more.

A sloping glass is better for efficiency than one that is shaped the way you suggest, wind tunnel tests will prove that!

If a bug or fly dies when it hits my windshield, that is one less bug in the world. Not a great loss in my opinion!
Without their natural enemy, carus windshieldus, reducing their numbers, the world would soon be overtaken with bugs.
That's a really, really nice thought. It is WONDERFUL to think that there is actually bothered about flies. Hats off to you!
What about the ones that fly into the radiator and get cooked or chopped up in the fan, or the ones you run over?
Why dont you start a fly training school, and teach then how to avoid hitting our windscreens. They're a bugger to clean off on a hot day!
You are definitely thinking outside the box.

Get back in your box! Bad boy! Either use the box or go outside.
started in on the vodka a little early?
Most people don't like flies, focus groups teach car manufacturers that fact and so they build killing machines to help make the world a better place. You could always remove your windscreen if you personally don't want to kill them? I'm pretty sure a windscreen is not an MOT requirement.
The only good bug/fly is a dead one, so let's leave windsceens just as they are. They are doing a good job.
What is the last thing that goes thru a bug's mind as it hits your windscreen - it's (****) (they have censored the word I put in so I'll be polite - rear end.
Whatever happened to freedom of expression, Yahoo? It's not even a particularily strong word.
