Help Volkswagen Polo?

My Volkswagen Polo 2001 1.4 Match has broken down. I was ddriving along when the clutch pedal was unresponsive (stuck on floor) and I couldn't change gear. Anybody had this happen - if so what was it and how much does it cost to fix. Thanks for your help

Answers:
your clutch cable is broken - not a big job, shouldn't cost too much, most breakdown services will do it at the roadside for you if they carry the part with them.. even at a garage it wont cost a fortune
sounds like either the clutch cable has broken or if it's an hydraulic clutch the master cylinder piston has collapsed.

if a broken cable probably around $100 including labour

if hydralic around $150-$200 including labour (roughly - unsure of VW's pricing on spares)
this will be very expansive sounds like your clutch has had its day go to the dealers you bought from if you want to have an official inspection but i would go to a garage that isnt a dealers & have them look at it it would be cheaper & less time consuming
i am not sure which years but i think the clutch cables were modified on polos, might be worth giving vw a ring first.good luck
der clutch cable not hard to change but if you really are not that way minded get someone in mabe a good idea to get cable first so you know the cost
