What is this part of a car called?
Any idea what it's called? Where can I get one? Does it have to be fitted by a mechanic or can I get my dad to do it??
Answers:
Arch Liner - Should only attempted D.I.Y. if you have proper axle supports, because you will have to take the wheel off and get under the car. Otherwise should be fairly simple.
(btw the Mud Flap is the bit that hangs down behind the wheel.)
Its either a mudflap or an arch liner. Both are a doddle.
mud flap
called a wheel well, its a pain your dad can do it
it's called the mud flap, ant auto part store will have them,

Mud flap
hello!
Its probably a hubcap, notorious for coming off the wheel, you can get them in any automotive store and you could probably even do it they just clip on

Mudflap you plum
There usually in front and I would call it a fender liner,, they are specific to each vehicle so are only avalible form a junk yard or the dealer,, most vehicles don't have them in the rear wheel wells,, don't need them. what happened to the ones your car came with,, they don't just fall out.
Mudflap
Is a Mud Guard
mudflap are the lil things in the back of the tires, not on the inside. the real term is wheel well. and its not fenders or bumpers
that is called the Fender Well.
splash shield
it could have several names depending on the manufacturer, its known as an inner wing guard, and under body guard or skirt, a wing liner, to name a few, and yes your dad could do it, if he is mechanically inclined.
They are all wrong. It is called a "Fender Guard". Not only does it stop stones from flying up and hitting the underside of your car it prevents other drives in parking lots from opening their doors and chipping your paint. As long as you get the one which is made for your car almost anyone can install it. It is held on by a few screws.
heya,
its called a mud guard.they are not expensive at all.i'd say your dad will be able to fit them.hope that helps
Hi there, its mainly called the Inner Arch Lining, depending on wot car it is it should be pretty straight forward to get one from a scrap yard, would probably cost less than a tenner! There normally held on with Pot rivets so they're not too hard to fit on. you may have to take the wheel off to get better access tho. Good luck
its called a WHEEL WELL !!
its a arch liner dont worry honey i know what you mean , go order one and take it too a garage and bat your eyelids and they will fit it for you for next to nothing !
thats what our looks are for , good luck .
I think your talking about the wheel well. These used to be made of sheet metal, but have become plastic now to save weight. It is mounted over the wheels and covers the area between the fender and the frame.
You can get them from your dealer and any auto body shop. It could possibly be installed by your dad, but might need the expertise of an auto body mechanic, you'll have to check with your dad on his abilities.
a mud flap
Well i think they are all wrong. This is not a retro fit item and not all cars have them as standard. Its simple a plastic lining under the wheel arch.
I wouldn't recommend fitting one if your car hasn't got one already because if it comes loose it will almost certainly cause an accident.
I think when other answerers have said its a mud flap they were meaning the small plastic flap that goes behind the wheel, not the plastic bit that goes over the wheel.
If your car had one and its become lost then go back to the main dealer and have them fit one for you. If it has never had one, do without and just wash under the wheel arch with a hose and brush when you wash the car
