Renault dealer said coils to be tuned by computer?

I have a 2002 renault megane to date have had 5 new coils fitted4under warenty dealer said I could not fit it as new ones have to be tuned by computer, as I am out of warenty how often will this happen
is this a design fault

Answers:
I would pay to put the new ones in and get them synched then sell that lemon! Hey, it's French. Need you know more?
It astonishes me that people will still buy French and Italian vehicles when anyone in their right mind knows they are all sh*it. Even the dealers that sell them are sh*it.

Japanese vehicles are the way to go, supreme build-quality, ultra reliable, and technologically advanced. Toyota, best built vehicle in the world.
Never heard of a computer being used to change a coil, its obvious that there is a problem causing the the coils to malfunction, this problem should have been rectified during warranty period, further more most recently fitted coil should be itself under warranty
not a design fault. you could be running something very heavy in current. that will be the cause of it frying.
I have a renault megane scenic 2002 last year all my coils went and when I phoned the warranty company she already knew the problem without me saying anything,
Basically she told me that it is a common problem with the megane that the coils are faulty but the new coils out now apparently are not,
Mine have lasted a year and half since they went so fingers crossed.
Tuning coils by computer? You don't even do this on a competition engine. You just bolt them on and plug them in.

OK, the new one might be slightly electrically different to the old one - in as much as it works - but the engine's ECU (which is a computer) should adjust to this after a few miles.

If you are out of warranty, look on this as good news: you are no longer stuck with the main dealer! Get it to a small, local, real garage. These only survive by doing good work and can still diagnose faults on cars without plugging in a computer and reading a screen.
your dealer is shafting you..there must be a fault ..that the dealer knows about
get rid of the junker. its not the coils. something is makeing them blow. the dealer should fix it for free. go to zone manager. tell them u will sue
by the way phish did you know that the french are supplying toyota and nissan with there new diesel engines and have been supplying toyota and honda for about 5 years now in the corolla avensis and almera. so how are they so crap?
I am afraid your Dealer is leading you up the Garden Path my friend !
The Coil Packs . Cannot be tuned by there Computer ! . they can however be read for efficiency and faults by there data link connector.. which plugs in under the dashboard in the drivers foot-well.
The Meganes have recurring coil problems
