Ford transit lacking in power?
Answers:
change fuel filter.. i have the same with my Volvo V70.. ( its a typical Diesel problem )..oh make sure you fill the filter up with diesel first or you will have a Air lock and will run the battery down when you try and start it ..!!
Good luck.
Yes it possibly would the air filter would restrict the amount of air your engine can ingest causing a lack of power.Regards Mick
Yep change the air filter would help, but as you havent had it long it may also be a good idea to change the, coolent, fuel filter, oil and the oil filter as well as the glow plugs. It probably just needs a bit of TLC , shouldnt take too long to do this, and I would do this anyway especilly if I didnt know when it had its last service.
As for the small amount of grey smoke, its a 2.5 diesel transit so this is normal,
It's a Ford. Explained.
change air and fuel filters, when you take the fuel filter off inspect fuel for any small pieces of metal.
CHANGE AIR N FUEL FILTERS.PUT A FUEL SYSTEM ADDITIVE IN YOUR TANK.THEN TRY SOME BP ULTIMATE DIESEL.FEEL THE DIFFERENCE FOR DEFS.; )
Firstly you should have given the van at least oil and filters service and checked when timing belt due.
If this does not help then the EGR valve could be stuck open which can cuase lack of power/exessive smoke although smoke of a more black nature due to unburnt fuel.To check if EGR valve is faulty make a blanking plate to seal off valve road test to see if power increase is notable.Van safe to run with plate in but will fail emisions test for MOT.
please check the pump timing and the timing and the disel filterand the air filter,
