Intermittent ABS and Brake Light warning for my 99 VW passat?

Hi
I haved a 1999 VW passat 4 Cylinder. In the last 2 weeks i have the ABS/Brake flight flash for a second or so and then disappear. This happens every 50 miles or so. Should i be concerned and what could be the problem and fix?-Varghese

its a warning system telling you it needs service :(
i own a repair shop, and an intermittent light just means there's a slight malfunction in the system ,and it may be telling you that pads are getting wore down some on it or that the fluid level is low for the brakes,id check the pads and the fluid level, and if it keeps doing it id have it checked out by a good mechanic it may be early warning signs of a brake problem, getting ready to happen, these systems are designed to detect problems and will flash the light if one is there,so have it checked just to be safe,,good luck i hope this help,s.
maybe best to get brakes and abs checked.
but sometimes can be a bit of dirt on the sensor.
