Used ford iveco engine, 17oe23, 1995 model?
Answers:
You may get a good used 230 motor at Yorkshire Cargoman in Castleford, West Yorks, if he is still trading or at many truck scrappers.
This was basically a sound engine and when I was looking after a large fleet of cargos in the mid 90s, I cannot recall any major problems with any of these motors other than compressors passing oil, which the cure was to remove the governor control valve and rely on the blow off valve; and the infamous exhaust brake / header pipe bellows failing regularly.
Still it pays to get them at the scrappers to run up the motor before you part with your cash so you can tell if the oil pressure is ok or whether it is about to eat its own turbo bearings, as parts are none too cheap. Guisseppe in Winsford certainly knows how to charge.
Careful to make sure you get the correct spec motor too because I seem to remember the Euro 2 spec motor coming out at around this time, so you will need to make sure you got the same number of "leaves" on your cab window, as the new motor donor vehicle.
Try autotrader or even post a "want it now" advert (free) on ebay.
you will find it very hard loacating that engine, you can use a 1.6 diesel ford fiesta engine it will fit in with no problems.
