Kreg Metro 1.4 auto spluttering and stalling.?
Answers:
If the car has got single point injection this looks like a carb it is highly likley the throttle position sensor is faulty, also called a throttle pot. This was a common fault with Metro although i agree with other writers the fuel problem is probably not relavant .The throttle pot controls the mixture in conjunction with your ecu. This would explain why when changing plugs ok for a while. Were your plugs black when removed if so it indicates rich mixture.??Regards Mick
Scrap it.
Are you sure that there is not a crack where more air is getting into the valves that what is needed?
without sounding rude..what do you expect from a K reg! its her way of telling u 'look im sick of going out now, im an old girl, cant i just sit in a nice warm garage somewhere wiv a cuppa'?
get a newer car!
Maybe it's your fuel tank that's dirty( sludge on the inside) try cleaning it, panelbeaters can do that for you.
Buy some carb cleaner about a fiver.Take the airbox off and spray it down the carb.If that don't work find out if it has an idle control valve if it does that maybe needing replaced
if it is a carb.. you need to clean that. if injection.. injectors may need cleaning. have you checked battery connections.
make sure distributer cap is sound and rotor arm ok too..
there is a rubber pipe from the inlet to the airbox to the distributor, this alters the advance/retard depending on the amount of "suck" in the inlet air. The pipe often gets perished at one end or the other.
I think the fuel tank level is a red herring.
