What is the best Tom Tom (in car navigation system) for price?
Answers:
Assuming that you are in the UK and don't travel on minor european roads or in the US, then:
Tom Tom 510.
You can always upgrade the maps anyway.
Tom Tom IS a brand name navigation system.
Some cell phones & Google & GPS device manufacturers are all coming out with navigation systems as good and cheaper than Tom Tom.
Check out the Garmins. They have a bigger screen.
Tom Tom One. Large display screen, very easy to use.
Try looking at the reviews on sites like: http://www.satellitenavigation.org.uk/.
I think that they are a little pricey at the moment. Can't you wait a few months.

A Map Book.
Get a map for £2.99 and spent five minutes planning your route beforehand - why waste money on an overpriced consumerist gadget that gives you something to distract you whilst you're driving and (as happened when Jeremy Clarkson and co tested them on Top Gear) tries to send you the wrong way down a one-way street that's barely wide enough for a bicycle!
If you get really lost there's always the maps you can get on your WAP phone.
