Front Seat?

Why do a lot of mothers or carers insist on sitting Babies, small children in the front passenger seat of cars,to me its just plain stupid,Maybe I should mind my own buisness but im haunted by images of dead chidren since I retired as medic,Pointed it out to one mother who was driving erratically and speeding but got the usual two finger salute, dont parents care anymore.

Answers:
would never put my youngest in the front but I do allow my 5 year olds to on a booster seat as their legs reach over the front seat and point to the floor. Saw one nasty accident whilst off duty where a baby had both his legs and hips shattered as the dash hit his feet and pushed them back in to his car seat following an accident. He was very luck to be alive.
Here in the USA, that's illegal and a parent can wind up with a ticket, a heavy fine and a visit by Social Services with possible Child Endangerment charges.

Further proof that stupid people should not procreate.
Its actually illegal to have a child in the front if they have an airbag even if it has a option to disable the airbag
you did the right thing by pointing it out..i would say anytime a child is faced with potential danger.it's everyone's business..continue to speak up when in comes to the welfare of children..i do and i don't care if people get mad at me.
Hopefully with the advent of new legislation from Monday regarding booster seats etc, this will become a thing of the past.but, if it is anything like the police catching people on their mobile phones etc, then they will just continue doing it to the danger of the children and themselves. The same can be said of those people who let their dogs etc run riot in the car whilst driving.
i know
In Eire, you can have a child over the age of 4 yr, airbag of not provided they are placed in a booster seat.

but I see it also a lot of "guardians"or "Parents" do this with no regard for the consequences of what can happen.
it's potentially child abuse if they are driving erratically they are putting the child at risk the police should enforce safety rules more stringently there are too many unsafe drivers on the roads quite apart from people driving under the influence of drugs (i don't just mean alcohol ever read the bit on a bottle of cough mixture saying don't use heavy machinery) there needs to be increased penalties for driving offences they are a joke at the moment which is why so many drivers don't take due care and attention (eg the recent incident of the blind man getting a driving ban and a suspended sentence he didn't have a license to suspend so he didn't really get any form of punishment for something that was obviously illegal and unsafe) the laws should be improved
Yes, it is really stupid to place infants in the front seat, but it isnt a sure sign that they dont care. Maybe the parents just arent aware of the dangers of placing infants in the front. As far as you getting the finger, road rage would be the blame. We are so used to being hounded on the road for making mistakes that we become so defensive and would never expect someone to help us. Im sure that at least half of the people doing this would cease to continue if properly explained the dangers of it.
Nothing can be wrose than what Britney Spears, she had him on her lap when driving
