What do you think of the Toyota Rav4? Any good?

Answers:
their OK if you want to break down loads and never go near a puddle let alone off road, the Mitsubishi pinin is a much better 4x4, or even the Suzuki vitara fat boy.
It has the worst roll over stats in the automotive industry. I know a guy who had one and he was driving about 65 mph and a pigeon flew in front of him and he hit the pigeon and totalled it, rolled over and is now crippled.
i got 4doors n 2doors.both great.but 2doors very small if ure big size.other great.although the break might get bit sucky for the 2doors.
Not much!
Excellent vehicle
A very good reliable car. Just as capable off road as on road. If you want to do serious off roading you'd be better with something else with better ground clearance. If you want something really unreliable go for a Landrover Freelander.
I own a Rav 4, it is my first foreign vehicle, I have had it over two years now and it's a very dependable vehicle. I would say that it's probably the best in it's class (from my research anyways). It's a small SUV with a 2.0 ltr engine (newer models have a 2.4 ltr) but it does the job, it's not a serious "off-road" vehicle like the commerials make it out to be. It is very good in the winter season and comes standard with a posi-track system if you get stuck (which incidentally has not happened to me yet.) As far as gas mileage it's pretty respectable as far as a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I can get about 750 kms (highway) per tank on mine. Some models now come larger with a 6 cylinder to compete with larger SUV models.

Similar SUV models in it's class;

HONDA CRV
SUZUKI SIDEKICK
CHEVY TRACKER
KIA (can't remember name)

Anyways, besides the HONDA, nothing comes close to the RAV 4's quality. They also maintain more of their value to. It's really a no-brainer. I suggest you do the research, take one out for a test drive and go from there.
I've got it, it's the lod version but it's the same apart from some details in the design. It is a very good car and i love it but it is for the city, if you want a real big 4x4 look for something else
As a car for using mostly on road, its great. It has a very low centre of gravity and handles superb. It was the 1st 4wd car to give the GTIs of the day a run for their money. Not great if you want to do serious off roading. The rear bottom link arms catch on rocks etc. So far as reliability goes, only ever had to put a set of plug leads on, crazily expensive too but other than that, had no real problems with the car. My wife loves it and wouldnt consider parting with it.
great car
